Workshops
By Jess Made This Mess
Hello! I'm Jess from Jess Made This Mess and I offer a wide variety of ceramic workshops that I hope to keep changing and updating! My pottery workshops are intended to be a safe and creative space that encourage people to try something new using hand building techniques such as slab building, coiling and pinching. I aim to make pottery accessible to everyone and anyone that wants to give it a go! You don't need all the bells and whistles to make a gorgeous pot, and thats the brilliant thing about pottery.
Calendar Overview
The calendar below shows all upcoming workshops over the next month or so. For more information click on your desired workshops. I aim to change them up as often as possible!
When will you get your pottery back?
Unless specified otherwise by guest workshop hosts, all pieces will take an average of 4 - 6 weeks to be ready for collection, and since we are aware that this is a long period of time,
we thought we'd explain why:
Creating ceramics is a time consuming process, especially during the drying and firing phases. After you make your creations they are left to dry completely, ensuring that the process is not rushed to prevent cracks.
Once bone dry, they are loaded into the kiln and fired to 1000*C in a process known as bisque firing, which takes a full 24 hours due to the careful cooling required.
After this initial firing, they are dipped into a transparent gloss glaze for their final firing. This time they are fired to 1220*C, after which they are all finished and ready to use!
You will then receive emails regarding collection times from the studio.
